Dragonfly is the largest annual student-run live concert at Drexel University. Organized by the University Concert Board, the event serves as a way to welcome in a new Freshman class and be a welcome respite for returning students about to kick off busy class or co-op cycles.

For this year, the concert evolved into a larger, festival-style event featuring headliners Yung Gravy and MKTO. Over a three-month period, I led a small cross-disciplinary team in creating a fully responsive, custom-built website from the ground up.

✎ THE CHALLENGE
A Disconnected Brand

In previous years, the Dragonfly website was considered a secondary priority. This was primarily due to the smaller size of the overall event team, which consisted of approximately 30 members compared to more than 50 this year, as well as the dual responsibilities of the web team, which also managed ticketing. Prior to this year, the primary function of the combined Web & Ticketing team was to provide on-site support during the concert and to ensure accurate information was communicated to concertgoers through the website and related channels. There were no practiced web designers on the team (aside from myself in 2024), which limited our capabilities in two key ways:

✎ OUR SOLUTION
New Opportunity

This year, the Dragonfly team grew to over 50+ people, and the web and ticketing teams were separated. With more space, budget, and a talented team of other UXID students, we had an opportunity to do something different.

Our goal was to deliver a digital experience that matched the event’s growing scope and energy, and was fully in line with the new brand being created by the graphic design team.

To achieve this, we focused on creating a user-friendly website that effectively communicated key event information, while also incorporating engaging visual elements that reflected the festival atmosphere of Dragonfly 2025.

As Project Manager and Lead Developer, I established the site’s technical framework and workflow, then worked closely with Chloe To, Dariya Mamratova, and Casey Lee as they took on major design and implementation roles.

We built the site using Readymag for its fast, no-code prototyping capabilities while extending functionality through custom HTML/CSS widgets. I developed the base structure, handled responsiveness, and created several interactive elements (including an FAQ modal and artist content cards). The rest of the team iterated on layouts, implemented graphic assets, and refined the visual details that gave the site its energy and polish.
